I love the Bible so much. God by His Word has been such an anchor for my life in every season. I am so grateful for the ability to read, to study, and even to teach the Bible to others. It’s always a milestone when our church completes a verse-by-verse study of a book of the Bible. We finish 1st John this Sunday- albeit LIVE STREAM due to Coronavirus.
The Simple Challenge:
When we began our sermon series on 1st John in October of 2019 I gave the people of Fellowship Raleigh one challenge:
- Read the book 50X during the few months that we are studying it. I hope some took this challenge. What a great New Testament book!
3 Reasons We Studied 1st John:
In the introductory sermon (October 3, 2019) I gave our church 3 reasons why we should study the book of 1st John:
- To encourage and challenge authentic Christian faith in yourself. Beware of Christianity “assumed.” Test yourself and seek to gain the assurance of authentic faith that is offered in this book.
- To address contemporary questions with Biblical answers (i.e. does it even matter what I or someone else specifically believes about God or about the historical Jesus?).
- To know and make known the God the who is Light and Love (big themes in 1st John).
