A Pillar of Biblical Teaching

What is a Pillar?

-Webster defines a pillar as “a supporting, integral, or upstanding member.”
-Pillars rest on the foundation. The foundation is Christ.
-Pillars stand the test of time.
-People know about, appreciate, and rely on pillars
-Pillars stand for something important
-Pillars give a sense of stability
-Paul refers to the church as “a pillar of truth” in 1 Tim. 3:15.
-We believe God is leading Fellowship Raleigh to serve as a pillar of spiritual influence and Biblical teaching in Raleigh and we are seeking to leverage our building at 410 Lord Berkley Road toward this vision.

What are the Pillars in Raleigh?

Raleigh is experiencing record-setting growth (and change). In the next 7 years Raleigh metro will grow from 1.3 to 1.6 million (30% increase). People are flooding into and through Raleigh. These people will come to know the pillars of Raleigh…
-The Greenway is a Pillar of leisure and exercise in this community
-Big Eds is a Pillar of breakfast food and sausage in this community
-NCSU is a Pillar of education and research in this community
-RTP is a Pillar of technology and employment in this community
-The YMCA is a pillar for exercise and community service in this community
-We believe God is leading Fellowship Raleigh to be known as a pillar of spiritual influence and Biblical teaching in Raleigh and we are seeking to leverage our building at 410 Lord Berkley Road toward this vision.

Other Options for our building?

-It could be a secular charter school and daycare (not a church)
-It could be demolished and used to build new half-million dollar homes for wealthy irreligious Raleigh-ites
-It could sit empty (like it was before we moved here)
-It could be a well-kept little secret where a quaint little inward focused church has nice small worship services for themselves

Or… better yet, it could be a revitalized church facility and leveraged as a key ministry tool toward seeing Fellowship Raleigh become a pillar of spiritual influence and Biblical teaching in the city of Raleigh to the Glory of God!

How will we be a Pillar over the next 7 years?

  • “If you want to go to a diverse church with great Christ-exalting worship, go to Fellowship Raleigh. They are a pillar.”
    • We currently have a diverse leadership team and are located in a diverse part of the city, plus we are passionate about continuing to pursue this over the next 7 years.
  • “If you want to be part of a church that has connections to serving the real needs in the city, go to Fellowship Raleigh. They are a pillar.”
    • We will develop partherships through renting our top floor to Biblically solid and city-impacting non-profits and small businesses.
  • “If you want to go to a church with solid verse-by-verse Biblical teaching, go to Fellowship Raleigh. They are a pillar.”
    • We have an offer on the table to influence the Triangle through a weekly radio ministry with the Truth Network that touches commuters, mailmen and prison yards.
  • “If you want to be part of a church that is growing bigger, but also deeper through Biblical equipping, go to Fellowship Raleigh. They are a pillar.”
    • We have the people, skill-sets, passion, and a great facility to start an Equipping Center in East downtown Raleigh that offers many classes helping new Christians to become grounded and growing Christians, and helping growing Christians to become solid and skilled leaders.

This is part of where we see God leading Fellowship Raleigh. Yeah, it is bold, but it is noble and humble also. We believe it is totally realisitic with total faith in God, for whose glory we do everything we do. Encourage and jump in with us.
